When did this permission begin?

Was it the dawn of the internet

Where it’s assumed there’s thicker skin

Keyboard warriors, cyber-bullies

Faceless internet trolls

Show up at keyboards showing true selves

Baring their ugly souls

From nasty complaints to businesses

To pushing opinions on others

Targeting those with alternate beliefs

The world judging mothers

Sure, some of this could be bots

But they’re still human coded?!

Is this the norm of a tech world?

One where society has eroded

Comment sections are viscous

No0one respecting differences

Fighting with complete strangers

Algorithms dictating inferences

So let’s hope kindness will always win

To restore our faith in humanity

Pray common decency will prevail

And be the end of online insanity
