Soul friend
We always called each other “twin”
Because we instantly felt so aligned
I felt there was way more to it
From a past life, our souls intertwined
~
My grieving felt so selfish
When you left this earth for good
Who was I going to lean on?
And make me feel understood?
~
I don’t know if you ever knew
How much of me you affected
You dying truly broke my heart
It taught me way more than I expected
~
Of course I knew you were loved
By everyone else who knew you
So I felt incredibly self-centred
As you were theirs to lose too
~
I guess that’s the beauty of life
How our existence leaves an imprint
The feeling we leave others with
To their fire, we’re the flint
~
Our friendship now lives inside me
Only now it’s paired with pain
The bittersweet of love and loss
Like a rainbow after the rain
